Presenting her fourth annual budget, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced that the government is aiming to create over 6 million jobs through Production Linked Incentive Schemes and reiterated that India is on path of strong recovery.
“PLI in 14 sectors will create 60 lakh new jobs and additional production of Rs 30 lakh crore in next 5 years, says Nirmala Sitharaman,” she said.
“The government is focused on citizen-centric reforms and this Budget aims to reform the economy over the next 25 years, she added.
Sitharaman said that their goal is complementing macro-growth with micro-all-inclusive welfare, digital economy and fintech, tech-enabled development, energy transition and climate action.
The Finance Minsiter also cited the GDP projection of Economic Survey 2022 forecasting 9.2 % growth this fiscal.
“India’s growth estimated to be at 9.2%, highest among all large economies; we are now in a strong position to withstand challenges, said the FM.

She also said virtuous cycle of investment is expected to revive on account of capex (capital expenditure) and crowd in private investment.
“Government focus since 2014 is on poor and marginalised. The government strives to provide necessary ecosystem to middle class,” Sitharaman said in her Budget speech 2022-23.
