1010, a name that brings binary digit code to mind, is the name of the eight-track debut EP of Delhi-based post dub electronica producer Jatin Puri, or his alter ego, Pippin. A moniker that has been making its presence felt at local gigging venues and music festivals like Magnetic Fields among others, Pippin, finally released the EP last week, following a year-long research-driven stay in New Zealand.

Influenced largely by Burial, James Blake, Chet Faker and Flume, post-dub is only a generic label that wraps the sounds of the EP. Moreover, elements of trip-hop and ambient psy-groove dominate the internal nature of the tracks. Definitely, Pippin belongs to the new lot of versatile electronica artists to look out for. His Facebook page best describes his music as, “… Relax, unwind and go inside the candy mountain”. Indeed.
