SUNBURN

Noida’s Sunset Good Enough for Sun(burn)!

‘We are diverse! Grown up with classics, you can’t stop our calisthenics on Trance too!!!’

Well, Trance does have its own sensitivity, varying from individual to infidel. You can’t put its definition into brackets and so crazy was the twilight. The musical diversity, artistry, festival madness, roar, uncontrolled calisthenics and a breath-taking evening – Are all these all ingredients good enough for a musical carnival? Really!

The seventh season of Asia’s biggest dance and music carnival ‘Sunburn’ was nothing less than a big bang. Much to quench the excitement of young trance tool blood, Sunburn played itself on two unique performing stages for the DJs – Space Jungle and Space Station at Galgotias University campus in Greater Noida.

With magnitude hitting the horizon, festival kicked a little past 3pm with Delhi-based NDS and Blue and Vipul on different stages followed by Netherlands trance group Rank 1 and Sunburn regular Dualist Inquiry respectively. The two-member Dutch Trance group Rank 1 played techno-laced euphoric sound while Dualist Inquiry’s riff-based electronica got the crowd moving like crazy. Inquiry played for an hour and gave over to Anish Sood X Lost Stories.

After jumping onto the tunes of western pioneers the Indian crowd reacted unexpectedly to young and dynamic artiste Anish. The energy booster pumped in them like space rockets and moves went unimpeded. Anish also shared stage with American DJ Porter Robinson, while Chinese-American Shogun tore up the stage next door.

Visuals of anime characters running around sprinkled with explosions and fantastical cityscapes amplified Robinson’s rapid sound tracks, invoking huge oomph in the crowd. Later in the evening trance bugs were perfectly set for Australian Musicians and song writers Nervo twins and Jeffrey Sutorius aka Dash Berlin and darted towards their favourite of artiste.

However, there was a little criticism tied up with the line-up of artistes. With EDM superstars such as Afrojack and Moguai and domestic heavyweights, DJ Pearl and Ash Roy missing this year the party brigade was slightly upset initially. But thousands of people cheerfully danced the evening away when the stars of this year amplified their music.

Along with gleaming art of audio-visual stage, the venue had flea markets, gastronomic delights at food stalls, gaming areas and bar arenas to slake everyone’s thirst.

“Sunburn is reborn in Season 7. The experience we are creating this season is like nothing India has ever seen. Sunburn has always been of the fans, by the fans, for the fans, and we are constantly searching and innovating and to bring the fans the most incredible experience possible. Our stage, sound, light, etc is on par with international standards. But what sets us apart from the rest of the world, is our soul, the Indian spirit in our fans, in our team. We show them what it’s like to truly Live.Love.Dance. I want the world to come to India for Sunburn,” said Shailendra Singh, Joint Managing Director of Percept.

With a fringe, fun-filled, the music fiesta had spellbinding vibes. It was a ride on trance to enjoy the taste of life as it should be.
