Singer-songwriter Noah Kahan has reached a major career milestone as his latest album, The Great Divide, debuts at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 dated May 9, 2026. The album earned an impressive 389,000 equivalent album units in its first week, marking the biggest debut of Kahan’s career.
This achievement not only secures Noah Kahan’s first chart-topping album but also establishes The Great Divide as one of the most commercially successful releases of 2026 so far.
Record-Breaking Numbers Across Streaming and Sales
The Great Divide has rewritten the record books, delivering the largest week for a rock album since Billboard began tracking multi-metric units in 2014. The album also posted the biggest streaming week of any album in 2026, generating over 215 million on-demand streams.
Additionally, the album dominated in pure sales, with 175,000 copies sold, including a staggering 118,000 vinyl purchases, making it the biggest vinyl sales week for a rock album in the modern era.
The album’s success reflects a powerful combination of streaming popularity, physical sales, and fan engagement, cementing Kahan’s growing influence in the music industry.

‘Stick Season’ Returns to Top 10
Noah Kahan’s earlier project, Stick Season, also re-entered the top 10, climbing to No. 10 in its 179th week on the chart. The resurgence highlights the sustained popularity of Kahan’s catalog as new listeners discover his music.
The latest chart also features notable entries from major artists. R&B star Kehlani debuted at No. 4 with her self-titled album, marking her fourth top 10 release.
Meanwhile, pop icon Michael Jackson saw his legendary album Thriller return to the top 10 at No. 7, fueled by renewed interest following a biopic release.
Other chart mainstays included Morgan Wallen and rising country star Ella Langley, both maintaining strong positions within the top five.
The Power of ‘The Great Divide’
Released on April 24, The Great Divide was preceded by its title track, which became a major hit and dominated radio airplay charts. The album rollout included multiple vinyl and CD variants, deluxe editions, and bonus tracks—strategies that significantly boosted its first-week performance.
Critically and commercially, the album showcases Kahan’s signature storytelling style while expanding his reach across genres, particularly within rock and alternative spaces.
Noah Kahan is set to capitalize on the album’s success with The Great Divide Tour, launching on June 11 in Orlando, Florida. The tour is expected to draw massive crowds as fans celebrate his breakthrough moment.
