SiR Says Kendrick Lamar & Drake’s Rap Beef Got His Toronto Show Canceled

The lyrical war between Kendrick Lamar and Drake hasn’t just shaken the hip-hop world—it’s now affecting other artists in their orbits. According to R&B singer SiR, he became an unintended casualty of the rap superstars’ feud when his Toronto concert was abruptly canceled.

During a recent performance in Canada, the Top Dawg Entertainment (TDE) artist opened up about the strange cancellation of his show in Drake’s hometown last year. He claims the issue wasn’t ticket sales or logistics—it was politics rooted in rap’s most high-profile beef.

“So the venue in Toronto, which was partially owned by Drake, cancelled the show completely,” SiR told the crowd, hinting at behind-the-scenes drama linked to the ongoing Drake-Kendrick feud. “Then when we tried to switch venues, the next venue was like, ‘Nah, we ain’t fking with it. I ain’t taking no motherfking chance.’”

While SiR didn’t name Drake directly in his onstage comments, the implication was clear: the tension between Drake and Kendrick Lamar had led to TDE-affiliated artists like himself being excluded from specific Canadian venues.

At the time of the canceled concert, SiR posted a heartfelt apology to his fans on Instagram. “So sorry to my Toronto fans. The show has been cancelled. We’re working on rescheduling for a later date,” he wrote. “For those wondering, we sold that show out. It was cancelled by the venue. Not sure why. My apologies again to those who came just to see me.”

Now that SiR has shed light on the real reason, fans are once again examining how far-reaching the Drake vs. Kendrick beef has become, not just through their diss tracks, but in real-world consequences.

This isn’t the first time a TDE artist has run into trouble north of the border. Fellow labelmate ScHoolboy Q also had a show canceled in Toronto amid the height of the rap war. He posted a laughing emoji with the message: “They just cancelled my show in TORONTO. CANADIAN POLICE DON’T WANT NOBODY FROM TDE PERFORMING.”

Drake and Kendrick’s lyrical battle may have calmed down on wax, but its shockwaves are still being felt, especially by artists like SiR who had no verses in the fight but are paying the price.

With fans rallying behind SiR and TDE, many are hoping for a rescheduled Toronto date—and for the music to rise above the beef.
