Navi Lands $100 Million Prosus Investment in Major Fintech Bet

Navi has secured a $100 million investment from Prosus in its first institutional capital raise, giving Sachin Bansal’s fintech group fresh firepower as it targets India’s fast-growing digital financial services market.

Navi Limited is getting a major vote of confidence from global technology investor Prosus.

The Bengaluru-based financial technology company announced on August 19 that Prosus will invest $100 million in Navi, marking the company’s first institutional capital raise and a significant milestone for founder Sachin Bansal’s financial services ambitions.

The transaction remains subject to customary closing conditions and applicable regulatory approvals, including clearance from the Competition Commission of India (CCI).

The investment comes as Navi enters a new phase of expansion, backed by stronger operating performance across payments and lending.

Prosus Makes $100 Million Navi Bet

The deal represents more than a capital injection for Navi. Prosus said its investment reflects confidence in the company’s technology-led business model, customer base and long-term growth prospects.

Prosus India Investments and M&A head Ashutosh Sharma highlighted Navi’s large user base, multiple business lines and technology-first approach as key attractions.

According to Sharma, Navi has executed strongly despite a challenging macroeconomic environment and is positioned to capture opportunities across India’s financial services sector.

The investment also deepens a relationship between Sachin Bansal and the Naspers-Prosus group that stretches back more than a decade.

For Bansal, the partnership endorses Navi’s ambition to build a large-scale, technology-driven financial institution.

“Beyond the capital, we value Prosus’s global perspective, long-term orientation and experience in scaling technology businesses,” Sachin Bansal said.

Navi Hits Key Growth Milestones

The timing of the investment is significant.

Navi says its businesses entered the new phase with strong momentum following several milestones during FY26.

Its UPI business, Navi UPI, retained its position as India’s fourth-largest UPI application, making it one of the country’s fastest-growing digital payments platforms.

Meanwhile, Navi Finserv continued expanding its lending business, with assets under management crossing ₹130 billion.

The group also reported consolidated profitability in Q4 FY26, another important milestone as Navi seeks to demonstrate that its technology-focused approach can translate into sustainable financial performance.

The company offers a range of financial products including digital loans, insurance, mutual funds and UPI payments, either directly or through partners.

Sachin Bansal’s Fintech Ambition Gets Bigger

Bansal, who co-founded Flipkart before leaving the company, has increasingly focused on financial services through Navi.

The latest Prosus investment could provide additional resources as the company expands its digital financial ecosystem and competes in markets dominated by established banks, fintech companies and major technology platforms.

Navi’s strategy centers on using technology to make financial products faster and easier to access, while combining multiple services into a single consumer experience.

The company says it has hundreds of millions of users across India.

Prosus’ backing could also strengthen Navi’s credibility with investors and the broader financial technology industry as institutional capital becomes increasingly important for companies seeking to scale in India’s competitive fintech market.

Deal Still Needs Regulatory Approval

Despite the headline-grabbing investment, the transaction is not yet complete.

Navi and Prosus must satisfy customary closing conditions and secure applicable regulatory approvals, including CCI approval.

If completed, the $100 million investment would give Navi a powerful new institutional partner at a pivotal moment in its development.

With digital payments continuing to expand and India’s consumer lending market undergoing rapid transformation, Navi’s first institutional fundraise could mark the beginning of an even more aggressive growth phase for Bansal’s fintech empire.
