Typsy Beauty Raises $2.3 million Led by Saama Capital to Expand Portfolio
Indian cosmetics startup Typsy Beauty has secured ₹20 crore (approximately $2.3 million) in a fresh funding round led by venture capital firm Saama Capital, as the fast-growing beauty brand looks to strengthen its retail footprint, expand into skincare and accelerate product innovation.
The investment also attracted participation from Sanjay Kapoor, founder of Genesis Luxury and an early investor in the company, along with SRF Limited Group. Existing investors, including the family offices of Havells and Eicher Motors, as well as entrepreneur Tanaaz Bhatia, continue to support the brand’s growth journey.
The latest funding comes as India’s premium beauty market witnesses rapid expansion, driven by rising disposable incomes, digital commerce and growing demand for globally inspired products developed specifically for Indian consumers.
Funding to Fuel Expansion Strategy
Typsy Beauty said the new capital will primarily be used to deepen its presence across quick-commerce platforms and offline retail outlets while broadening its portfolio beyond makeup.
The company plans to launch its first hybrid skincare-makeup range alongside expanding Spritz by Typsy, its fragrance sub-brand introduced earlier this year.
Management also confirmed that more than 10 new products are expected to be introduced in the coming months as part of its category expansion strategy.
The company currently offers 27 stock keeping units (SKUs) spanning lip, eye, face and fragrance categories and sells through its direct-to-consumer website as well as major online marketplaces including Nykaa, Amazon, Myntra, Flipkart, Tira, Blinkit and Zepto.
Building an International-Quality Indian Brand
Founded in 2022, Typsy Beauty was created after founder Kairavi Bharat Ram identified a gap between the quality of international beauty products and options available in the domestic market.
Drawing from her experience as a beauty content creator, Bharat Ram sought to develop products that matched global formulation standards while remaining accessible to Indian consumers.
The brand works with international laboratories that also manufacture products for globally recognised beauty companies, allowing it to introduce premium formulations without premium pricing.
Its portfolio includes category-first products such as Foundcealer, described as India’s first foundation-concealer hybrid, Twist & Pout, a lipstick-liner combination, and Pout Cloud, a lip colour designed to combine rich pigmentation with balm-like comfort.
Most of Typsy Beauty’s products are positioned in the ₹600-₹900 ($7-$10.50) mass-premium price segment, targeting consumers seeking international-quality cosmetics at affordable prices.
Leadership Confident About Next Phase
Founder Kairavi Bharat Ram said the company was established with the goal of delivering international-quality beauty products without forcing consumers to pay luxury prices.
She said the latest investment would enable the company to enter additional product categories while reaching a larger customer base across India.
Co-founder Shashank Tibrewal added that Typsy Beauty has built its business on disciplined financial fundamentals, healthy contribution margins and a repeatable marketplace-led growth model.
According to Tibrewal, the fresh capital will help accelerate expansion while maintaining operational efficiency as the company scales.
Investor Sees Opportunity in India’s Beauty Market
Saama Capital, which manages approximately $350 million (around ₹3,050 crore) in assets, said Typsy Beauty has demonstrated a combination of strong product development and disciplined execution.
Partner Amrita Barthakur noted that the startup has successfully identified underserved opportunities within India’s beauty market by delivering products capable of competing with international brands while remaining accessible to domestic consumers.
Saama Capital has previously invested in several prominent consumer and technology companies, including Paytm, BlueStone, Veeba, Mokobara, Supertails, Go Zero and Gully Labs.
Beauty Industry Continues to Attract Investment
India’s beauty and personal care industry has become one of the country’s fastest-growing consumer sectors, supported by rising online shopping, influencer-led marketing and increasing demand for premium cosmetics.
Startups are increasingly focusing on locally developed brands with global-quality formulations, creating stronger competition against international labels while appealing to younger consumers seeking innovative products.
With fresh capital, an expanding product portfolio and a wider retail strategy, Typsy Beauty aims to strengthen its position in India’s rapidly evolving beauty market as it prepares for its next phase of growth.
