Mahindra Thar Roxx to hit the roads by Dusshera, Bookings Now Open
Mahindra & Mahindra has officially opened bookings for the much-anticipated Thar Roxx, a rugged 4×4 SUV that made its debut on August 15, 2024. Priced between ₹ 12.99 lakh and ₹ 22.49 lakh (ex-showroom), this five-door SUV is a successor to the iconic Thar lineup, promising an elevated off-road experience with enhanced versatility. Test drives for the Thar Roxx have already commenced at Mahindra dealerships across India, and deliveries are set to begin during Dusshera 2024, adding to the excitement surrounding this launch.
The Thar Roxx lineup offers an extensive range of options, with nearly a dozen variants, including MX1, MX3, MX5, AX3, AX5, and AX7. The SUV is available in both 4×2 and 4×4 drivetrains, catering to a wide spectrum of buyers, from urban adventurers to off-road enthusiasts. Customers can choose between two powertrain options: a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine and a 2.2-litre turbo-diesel engine, both paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission.
For petrol enthusiasts, the 2.0-litre turbocharged engine generates 175 bhp and 380 Nm of torque. This powertrain is offered exclusively in a rear-wheel-drive configuration and is available across four variants: MX1, MX3, MX5, and AX7 L. Notably, the MX5 variant offers the flexibility of both manual and automatic transmission options. The petrol engine boasts an ARAI-certified fuel efficiency of 12.4 kmpl, though real-world figures may vary.
On the diesel front, the 2.2-litre engine comes in two tuning states. The 4×2 version produces 152 bhp and 330 Nm, while the more powerful 4×4 variant delivers 173 bhp and 370 Nm. Diesel variants offer a claimed fuel efficiency of 15.2 kmpl, adding practicality to its off-road prowess.
A key highlight of the Thar Roxx is the introduction of a new Mocha Brown interior trim, available exclusively for the 4×4 variants. While customers opting for this premium interior can place their bookings now, deliveries for the Mocha Brown-equipped models are slated for January 2025, allowing buyers to customize their SUV further.
With its bold design, multiple variants, and robust off-road capabilities, the Mahindra Thar Roxx is poised to strengthen Mahindra’s leadership in the 4×4 SUV segment. As the festive season approaches, the Thar Roxx is likely to attract a wide array of customers looking for an adventurous and stylish ride.
