Royal Enfield set to release the Bear 650 scrambler on 5th Nov

Royal Enfield is set to launch its new Bear 650 Scrambler on November 5, 2024, expanding its popular 650cc lineup to target adventure and off-road enthusiasts. Known for its blend of classic styling and modern engineering, the Bear 650 aims to capture a broader market segment, bridging urban style and rugged performance with the versatility of a scrambler motorcycle.




Design and Features

The Bear 650, teased in a recent promotional video with the tagline “Caution has been chasing us. But we have always been quicker,” embodies a minimalist, neo-retro design. It closely resembles the Interceptor 650 in frame structure, employing a similar tubular steel chassis and fuel tank. However, it boasts several modifications tailored for scrambler-style performance, including a new, longer-travel suspension setup for more extensive off-road capability. The Bear 650 features USD forks, a significant upgrade from the Interceptor’s telescopic suspension, ensuring better handling on rugged terrain.

The scrambler also includes block-pattern dual-purpose tyres, with a 19-inch front and a 17-inch rear wheel, optimizing it for both on-road and off-road riding. Notable design elements include a circular LED headlamp, retro-style round mirrors, a braced handlebar, and an upswept exhaust for increased ground clearance. The tear-drop-shaped fuel tank, all-LED lighting, and oval race-style number boards add to its distinctive look, while the perforated heat shield on the exhaust channels a 1960s-inspired aesthetic.

Performance and Technology

The Bear 650 is powered by Royal Enfield’s reliable 648cc twin-cylinder, 4-stroke engine, which produces 47 PS and 52.3 Nm of torque, paired with a six-speed gearbox. While the engine is shared with other 650 models like the Interceptor and the Continental GT, the Bear 650’s lighter frame and stripped-down body provide a favourable power-to-weight ratio, enhancing performance on various terrains.

A noteworthy technological addition is the circular TFT display, mirroring the one in Royal Enfield’s Himalayan 450 and Guerrilla 450 models. This TFT screen integrates app-based features such as full-map navigation, catering to riders who seek both adventure and connectivity. The digital instrument cluster reflects Royal Enfield’s continued effort to integrate modern technology without compromising its retro appeal.

Positioned between the 650 Twins and the Super Meteor 650 in Royal Enfield’s lineup, the Bear 650 is designed to appeal to riders seeking a mix of urban commuting ease and moderate off-road capability.
