Taylor Sheridan’s ‘Landman’ Season 2 Sets Premiere Date — Billy Bob Thornton Returns, Sam Elliott Joins the Cast
Taylor Sheridan’s modern Western Landman is officially back in business with Season 2. Paramount+ has confirmed that the second season of the hit drama will premiere on Sunday, November 16, 2025, giving fans a fresh chapter in the high-stakes world of West Texas oil.
Paramount also dropped a brief 15-second teaser, which showcases Billy Bob Thornton’s return as Tommy Norris, the titular “landman” navigating the gritty and often dangerous oil-rigging industry. The Landman Season 2 teaser ends with the official premiere date, setting the stage for another season of ambition, betrayal, and big oil drama.
A Story of Power, Wealth, and Roughnecks
Based on the Boomtown podcast by Imperative Entertainment and Texas Monthly, Landman explores the sharp contrasts of West Texas life. Paramount describes it as “an upstairs/downstairs story of roughnecks and wildcat billionaires fueling a boom so big, it’s reshaping our climate, our economy, and our geopolitics.”
Billy Bob Thornton’s Tommy Norris in Landman is caught between corporate oil tycoons and the rugged workers drilling the land — a world where fortunes are made and destroyed overnight.
Landman Season 2 Brings a Major New Face
Joining the cast in Landman season 2 is Sam Elliott, who will play a series regular role. Sam Elliott’s rugged screen presence is expected to bring even more grit to the already intense series. Returning cast members include Demi Moore, Andy Garcia, Ali Larter, Jacob Lofland, Michelle Randolph, Paulina Chávez, Kayla Wallace, Mark Collie, James Jordan, and Colm Feore.
While Jon Hamm appeared in Season 1, he will not return for the upcoming installment.
Sheridan’s Expanding Paramount+ Empire
Landman is part of Taylor Sheridan’s growing slate of Paramount+ hits, which also includes Lioness (Zoe Saldaña, Nicole Kidman), Tulsa King (Sylvester Stallone), and Mayor of Kingstown (Jeremy Renner). Sheridan’s flagship series Yellowstone concluded in late 2024, while prequel 1923 wrapped up in April 2025.

The first season of Landman was a record-breaker, with over 35 million viewers streaming the debut episode, making it the most-watched Paramount+ original in the platform’s history. Billy Bob Thornton also scored a 2025 Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor in a Television Drama, cementing the show’s prestige appeal despite being snubbed at the Emmys.
When and Where to Watch
Landman Season 2 will premiere exclusively on Paramount+ starting Sunday, November 16, 2025. New episodes will drop weekly, continuing the saga of greed, ambition, and survival deep in the heart of Texas.
With Sam Elliott stepping into the oil-soaked chaos and Taylor Sheridan at the helm, this season promises to be a high-octane ride through the boom-and-bust world of the modern American West.
