The time could be just be apt for people eyeing some quick bucks during the festive season as major e-commerce marketplaces like Flipkart, Amazon and Snapdeal are reportedly looking for thousands of employees to manage its logistics and last mile services during the rush.
Being one of the most crucial period of the year for the online marketplaces, which has statistically clocked more sales than any other time of the year, it would be of utmost importance to reach the products on time.
According to reports, both Flipkart and Snapdeal have plans to hire more than 10,000 temporary staff in logistics and last mile across the country to address the massive demand during that time. Flipkart has also introduced an alternate delivery model this time.
The countdown to Diwali, which is highly expected to boost company sales after struggling with slower growth rates due to reduction in discounts and consumer incentives this year would see temporary job creation between September 15 to November 15.
Jayant Sood, Chief Customer Experience Officer, Snapdeal, said, “This Diwali we are committed to upgrade this experience further still by delivering within 1-2 days across most towns and cities in India.”
The Diwali period will see all logistics centres functioning 24X7 to receive, sort, screen and ship products. The SD+ centres will continuously process orders and orders received even late night will be prepared for dispatch for next day morning, a company release said.
