Swiggy expands operations to Pune
Food aggregator Swiggy has launched its services in Pune after expanding in Mumbai earlier this year. The Bangalore-based start-up is also present in cities like Gurgaon, Delhi and Hyderabad. The company has joined hands with more than 1,500 restaurants across the cities where it operates.
“Pune is a vibrant city with a huge cosmopolitan populace. We would like to provide customers best choices from an extensive range of restaurants and cuisines, for varying culinary preferences”, Nandan Reddy, co-founder, Swiggy said in a press statement.
Swiggy differs from Zomato by accepting orders only on behalf of the restaurants. It has its own army of delivery personnel equipped with smartphones who can take orders from restaurants and deliver them to customers. Swiggy has around 80 delivery executives in Pune who will deliver from over 100 restaurants across locations like Wakad, Aundh, Baner and Pimpri-Saudagar.
