Reserve Bank of India has eased cash withdrawal limits from ATMs with immediate effect
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI), with immediate effect, has eased cash withdrawal limits from ATMs along with current accounts.
RBI is now allowing for withdrawals upto Rs. 10,000 a day per debit card from ATMs – raised from the current 4,500. However, the weekly withdrawal limit of Rs. 24,000 will remain unchanged.
The withdrawal limit from current accounts has been raised to Rs. 1 lac per week, from 50,000 rupees, and this facility will also be extended to overdraft, cash credit accounts.
These limits were imposed in November after the government had announced the ban on Rs. 500 and Rs. 1,000 notes saying it was to be replaced.
According to reports, the withdrawal limits will not be lifted until the RBI supplies the economy with sufficient new notes.
