What to Watch Out For: Day 1 of Rendezvous
With IIT Rendezvous having officially kicked off, watch out for the Pro Nite finale this evening which promises to be a winner. With the Battle of the Bands winners due to play on the big stage, what the crowd will be waiting for is Barefaced Liar, the local indie favourite followed by the big act for the evening by the Californian group, Hoobastank.
Barefaced Liar is an ensemble of fresh song writing, eclectic guitar playing, powerful rhythms and dynamic vocals. The musicians confess to have been majorly influenced by classics like Beatles, Pink Floyd, Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, and Metallica as well as the newer sounds of Tool, so it will be interesting to see what kind of set they will be playing. Their passion for singing, song writing and the guitar manifested itself through their creation – a band through which they express their penchant for blues, classic rock and heavy metal sounds and is now a regularly booked act.
Hoobastank needs no introduction. Making waves a few years ago with their single “The Reason”, they have come a long way. Now touring for their latest album “Can You Save Me?” they will also be playing a few more venues across the country. However, tonight, people in Delhi should get down to IIT if they want a good rocking night, as they will be headlining. Having had considerable experience touring over the last few years, Hoobastank will definitely put up a great live show!
There will also be the Taiwanese Drum Circle called Taiwanese Ten Drums, and a Kavi Sammelan or a Hindi poetry recital. With such extreme diversity in musical and theatrical performance, people attending Day 1 of the IIT Delhi fest Rendezvous are bound to have a good time.
The order of performances are as follows:Battle of Bands, Taiwan Ten Drums, Barefaced Liar, Kavi Sammelan, Hoobastank. Rendezvous will happen at the IIT Delhi campus in Hauz Khas.
