Perhaps the only difference between Singapore’s YouTube FanFest, which was the inaugural edition of this concept in May 2013, and India’s YouTube Fanfest is the fact that ours doesn’t have a display of culinary talent. Regardless, who would’ve imagined that YouTube would not only play host but also be responsible for creating a certain breed of celebrities?

On March 1, 2014 from 6pm onwards, Mumbai’s Amphitheatre at Bandra’s Carter Road will play host to this one-day festival, welcoming musicians, stand-up comedy acts, and video bloggers among other internet personalities to take to stage and do what they do best – entertain and educate; this time, in real time, thus destroying the presence of a tech interface.

Musicians like fusion-collaborators Maati Baani (read here), American clarinettist and music composer Shankar Tucker and upcoming vocalist Shraddha Sharma are on the list of YouTube’s pop faces. Among comedians, All India Bakchod and The Viral Fever will be entertaining crowds with sketches. Lastly, Vsauce (scientific tricks and tips) and Bethany Mota (fashion blogger) will unveil their informative ideas to Mumbai. After Mumbai, the fest will move to Australia, whose details are yet to be announced. It’s truly an opportunity for digitally viral content to get a palpable manifestation.
