Joe Keery Condemns Trump’s Response to Fatal Minneapolis ICE Shooting
Stranger Things star and musician Joe Keery has publicly criticized US President Donald Trump following a fatal shooting involving an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent in Minneapolis, igniting widespread debate across social media.
On Thursday, the 33-year-old actor—best known for portraying Steve Harrington on Netflix’s hit sci-fi series—shared a Truth Social post from Trump addressing the incident, in which 37-year-old Renee Good was shot and killed by an ICE agent during an enforcement operation. Responding directly, Keery wrote: “Zero human decency.” He added bluntly, “Stop this man.”
The Incident and Trump’s Statement
The ICE led shooting occurred on Wednesday in Minneapolis, where video footage of the incident quickly circulated online. Trump later addressed the event on Truth Social, defending the ICE agent’s actions as self-defense.
In his post, Donald Trump claimed that the woman driving the vehicle was “very disorderly, obstructing and resisting,” and alleged that she “violently, willfully, and viciously ran over the ICE Officer,” prompting the shooting. He added that the officer involved was recovering in hospital and blamed escalating tensions on what he described as attacks on law enforcement by the “Radical Left.”
Trump framed the shooting within his administration’s broader immigration crackdown, arguing that ICE agents are “just trying to do the job of MAKING AMERICA SAFE.”
Joe Keery’s Reaction and Public Support
Joe Keery reposted Trump’s statement to his Instagram Story, accompanied by his sharp condemnation. The post quickly gained traction, with fans and activists praising the actor for speaking out.
“Joe Keery speaking against Trump, okay let’s go,” one user wrote on X, sharing a screenshot of Keery’s message. Another post lauded the actor’s broader advocacy, describing him as “anti-Trump” and supportive of progressive causes, including LGBTQ+ rights.
While Keery has not expanded further on his comments, his response reflects a growing trend of Hollywood figures using their platforms to address political and social issues—particularly those involving immigration, law enforcement, and civil rights.
