Diddy’s Prison Release Date Revealed Amid Alarming Knife Attack Reports
Music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs now has an official release date from federal prison. According to the Federal Bureau of Prisons, the 55-year-old is scheduled to be released on May 8, 2028, assuming continued good conduct. The timeline reflects the First Step Act, allowing eligible inmates to reduce sentences through rehabilitation and time served before trial.
Sean Diddy Combs is currently serving a 50-month sentence after being convicted of transporting individuals across state lines for prostitution. He was acquitted of more serious racketeering and sex-trafficking charges that could have placed him behind bars for life.
Violent Incident Raises Fears Over Safety
The update on his potential release comes just days after disturbing reports surfaced from inside New York’s Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC), the only federal jail in the city and widely criticized for unsafe conditions.
A longtime friend, Charlucci Finney, in an interview mentioned that Diddy awoke to a fellow inmate holding a makeshift blade to his throat. The attack was allegedly meant as a warning rather than a murder attempt. Finney claims violence in the jail is “constant,” adding that intimidation tactics are “part of life” at MDC.
The facility has previously been branded “hell on Earth” by former detainees and linked to repeated episodes of suicide, contraband smuggling, and staff-related misconduct.

Ongoing Legal Battle and Bid for Freedom
Sean Diddy Combs is actively fighting his conviction. His legal team has filed a formal notice of appeal, arguing the statute under which he was convicted should not apply to his case. A decision could take months.
Meanwhile, speculation swirls around whether Donald Trump may consider a commutation or pardon. Trump confirmed Combs requested his help for pardon. White House officials insist no such decision has been made.
Trump acknowledged his past friendship with Diddy but noted that the rapper later became publicly critical of him. He admitted this history “makes it more difficult” to weigh a pardon request.
A Stark Fall for a Once-Untouchable Mogul
The contrast between where Diddy was and where he currently resides could not be more dramatic. Before his arrest, he lived in ultra-luxury homes including his $48 million Miami property on Star Island. Now, he reportedly sleeps on a steel bed in a cramped cell under constant threat.
Combs’ defense previously argued for home confinement due to safety concerns, though the request was denied on grounds he is a flight risk.
If his appeals fail and his conduct remains clean, Diddy could walk free in just under three years. Until then, one of the most powerful figures in hip-hop remains locked in one of the toughest detention centers in the United States.
