Kanye West and Big Sean End Years of Bad Blood in Explosive Chicago Reunion
Ye just turned his Chicago homecoming into a full-blown hip-hop reunion. The rapper formerly known as Kanye West shocked fans at Soldier Field, Chicago on Thursday night by bringing former G.O.O.D. Music protégé Big Sean onto the stage years after publicly calling signing Big Sean one of the biggest mistakes of his career.
The surprise appearance became one of the defining moments of the first of Kanye West’s two Chicago shows, with the pair performing “Clique” and Big Sean’s massive hit “I Don’t Fuck With You.” 2 Chainz also joined them for “Mercy,” while Future and Chicago rap veteran Twista were among the other surprise guests.
For fans who remember the bitter fallout between Ye and Sean, the reunion was impossible to miss.
Ye Brings Big Sean Back Into the Spotlight
Kanye Wets introduced Big Sean to the Soldier Field crowd as his “homie from the D,” referring to Detroit, before Big Sean emerged onto the rapper’s enormous globe-shaped stage.
The two launched into “Clique,” the 2012 G.O.O.D. Music-era collaboration featuring Sean and Jay-Z, before Sean performed “I Don’t Fuck With You.” The 2014 anthem, produced by Mustard and featuring E-40, eventually became one of Sean’s biggest commercial hits and has earned RIAA Diamond certification.
Big Sean then joined Ye and 2 Chainz for “Mercy,” another major track associated with the Cruel Summer era.
Before leaving the stage, Big Sean delivered an emotional message to Ye.
“Chi-Town, I love you forever. Ye, I love you, bro, and I appreciate you,” he told the crowd.
Ye responded with his own message of affection.
For two artists whose relationship had become publicly hostile, the moment represented a striking reversal.

From “Worst Thing” to “Love You, Fam”
The reconciliation carries serious history.
Kanye West famously criticized Big Sean during a 2021 appearance on the Drink Champs podcast, saying that signing the Detroit rapper to G.O.O.D. Music was the “worst thing” he had done.
Big Sean subsequently pushed back publicly, describing Ye’s remarks in harsh terms while also acknowledging the opportunities his former label boss had given him.
The relationship had also been complicated by disagreements over contracts and finances. Big Sean eventually departed G.O.O.D. Music after more than a decade with the label.
Now, the two appeared to have put that chapter behind them.
Their reunion is particularly notable because Kanye West has spent much of 2026 rebuilding his live presence through a series of high-profile one-off performances surrounding his BULLY era.
Chicago Show Was Packed With Surprises
Big Sean wasn’t the only major name to appear.
Ye also brought Twista, Future and 2 Chainz onto the Soldier Field stage, turning the homecoming into a sprawling celebration of his catalog.
The set reportedly stretched beyond 45 songs and more than two hours, with Ye reaching deep into his back catalog.
Among the rarities were “I Wonder” and “Champion,” both from his 2007 album Graduation. The show eventually moved toward one of his most iconic songs, “Runaway,” from 2010’s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.
The deep cuts gave longtime fans something beyond a standard greatest-hits performance.
Ye’s Controversial Comeback Continues
The Chicago reunion arrives during one of the most complicated periods of Kanye West ’s career.
His BULLY album debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, but his return to the stage has continued to generate controversy alongside commercial interest.
Ye has faced widespread backlash over antisemitic and other inflammatory remarks in recent years, contributing to the collapse of major business relationships and disruptions to planned performances.
In January, he published a full-page Wall Street Journal advertisement in which he rejected descriptions of himself as a Nazi or antisemite and discussed his own account of a prolonged manic episode.
His planned appearance at London’s Wireless Festival was ultimately canceled after significant opposition.
A New Chapter for Ye and Big Sean?
Yet the Soldier Field moment offered a very different image.
Instead of another controversy, fans witnessed two former collaborators publicly embracing their shared musical history.
Ye’s Chicago shows are also a reminder of just how deep his catalog runs and how many artists from his G.O.O.D. Music era remain connected to his legacy.
Whether Thursday night’s reunion leads to new music remains unknown.
But one thing is clear: Kanye West and Big Sean’s feud appears to be history and Chicago reunion got the first look at the reconciliation.
