Last year’s Independence Day had our PM talking about his vision, his ideas for development and announcements of new schemes. This year, after spending around 15 months in office, Modi spoke about the various goals achieved in his tenure so far as well as future promises.
Following the “Make In India” and “Digital India” slogans, Modi’s latest is “Start-up India, Stand up India” which aims at providing an extended hand to entrepreneurs who want to setup start-ups and SMEs. Moreover, he stressed on this in context to the weaker classes and how banks can provide support to dalits and other tribal classes.
Modi started off by discouraging the tonality of communalism and caste-related societal problems and continued by saying “Our unity, our simplicity, our brotherhood, our goodwill, these are our biggest assets. We must never fritter them away; we must never let them come under stress. If our unity is compromised, our dreams will be shattered too. Therefore, whether it is the poison of caste or the frenzy of communalism, we must never yield space to them; never let them come up. We must overpower them with the nectar of development.”
The PM’s statements were met by positive feedback from the start-up community. Various entrepreneurs and start-up founders expressed their happiness towards Modi’s vision.
“We welcome PM Modi’s initiative towards strengthening the startup ecosystem in India. This will encourage more entrepreneurs to come forward and contribute towards a startup lead India. As an integral part of the Indian ecommerce ecosystem, we shall definitely try and play our role in the initiative.” said Mr. Nitin Gupta, CEO and co-founder PayU India
“The initiative is first of its kind by central government. It is a great vision of our PM recognizing the entrepreneur ship and employment which comes out of it. This vision will help country to produce more entrepreneurs thus provide more job opportunities.
Along with this if central Government creates startup and entrepreneurship schools as part of national skills development by taking help from available groups who support startups like ispirit , TIE, Angel Groups ,incubators and accelerators . This program would be more successful.” said Krishna Lakamsani, CEO, iPay Tech India Pvt Ltd.
Apart from the start-up ecosystem, Modi also spoke about the need for accelerated development in the east and northeastern parts of the subcontinent.
