V-GREEN, Green GSM Philippines, and MERALCO Partner to Accelerate Electric Mobility in the Philippines
A powerful new alliance is set to supercharge the Philippines’ electric vehicle (EV) transition. V-GREEN Global Charging Station Development Corporation (V-Green), Green and Smart Mobility Joint Stock Company (Green GSM Philippines), and the Manila Electric Company (MERALCO) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to build out the country’s EV ecosystem.
This landmark partnership aims to fast-track the development of public Philippines EV charging infrastructure and accelerate the deployment of electric taxi services in key urban hubs such as Metro Manila. The announcement marks a defining step in the nation’s green transport strategy—one rooted in clean energy, sustainability, and modern mobility solutions.
Powering the Philippines EV Future
Under the MOU, the three companies will collaborate on identifying optimal locations for charging stations and Philippines EV taxi hubs, particularly in densely populated urban centers. The plan includes leveraging renewable energy sources—particularly solar power—to build a robust, eco-conscious charging network. The agreement also outlines shared technical expertise, workforce training programs, and future expansion into smart grid solutions.
Nguyen Thanh Duong, CEO of V-GREEN, emphasized the partnership’s transformative potential “We believe this alliance with MERALCO and Green GSM will reshape the way urban mobility works in the Philippines. Our mission is to make EV charging smart, clean, and accessible—while enhancing everyday life for Filipino commuters.”
Electric Taxis, Cleaner Cities
Green GSM Philippines, a leading electric taxi operator powered exclusively by VinFast EVs, is set to be a central player in this green transformation. The company’s all-electric fleet, currently operating in Vietnam and now expanding into the Philippines, will benefit from this tripartite collaboration by gaining access to more reliable and renewable charging infrastructure.
Dao Quy Phi, CEO of Green GSM Philippines, added “Robust infrastructure is key to delivering safe, clean, and efficient mobility. This partnership unlocks massive growth for the electric taxi market and moves us closer to a future without emissions.”
Meralco’s Role in the Energy Shift
As the country’s largest power distributor, MERALCO brings deep technical know-how and infrastructure capabilities to the table. Manuel V. Pangilinan, Chairman and CEO of MERALCO, highlighted the strategic vision: “Together, we intend to reframe the way we think about energy, transport, and sustainability. This is about building smarter cities and cleaner communities.”
Driving Toward a Greener Tomorrow
This Philippines EV alliance is part of a broader regional push by VinFast and its partners to establish a holistic electric mobility ecosystem. With ongoing projects in Vietnam, Laos, and Indonesia, V-GREEN and Green GSM are bringing proven models to the Philippine market. From charging stations to solar integration and zero-emission fleets, the partnership is poised to revolutionize transport—one electric mile at a time.
