Elon Musk’s Estranged Daughter Vivian Wilson Takes Aim at AI with Desigual Campaign

Vivian Wilson, the transgender model, activist, and estranged daughter of Elon Musk, is turning a fashion campaign into a pointed statement about artificial intelligence, robotics, and individuality.

Wilson stars in Spanish fashion brand Desigual’s Fall 2026 “Born to Disobey” campaign, appearing alongside a malfunctioning humanoid robot in a provocative video that repeatedly puts the machine through bizarre tests before delivering one striking message: “Some things aren’t meant to be fixed.”

The campaign does not mention Elon Musk by name, but its anti-AI and anti-robotics theme has inevitably drawn attention because of his prominent investments in artificial intelligence and humanoid robotics.

Vivian Wilson’s Robot Ad Sends a Clear Message

In the campaign film, Wilson encounters DESI84, a humanoid robot presented as a machine designed to obey and perform everyday tasks.

Instead of treating the robot as an impressive technological breakthrough, Wilson turns it into part of an irreverent fashion performance.

She walks the machine like a dog, uses it as a golf tee and challenges it to pronounce Desigual’s name. The robot repeatedly fails before eventually banging its head against a wall.

Wilson then delivers the campaign’s closing line: “Some things aren’t meant to be fixed.”

Desigual describes “Born to Disobey” as a celebration of people who reject conformity rather than submit to systems designed to control them.

The campaign’s messaging centers on human individuality in an increasingly automated world, giving the fashion project a distinctly anti-machine edge.

Why the Campaign Is Being Linked to Elon Musk

Although the advertisement never names Elon Musk, its focus on artificial intelligence and humanoid robots makes the connection hard to ignore.

Musk has made AI a major part of his business empire through xAI, the company behind Grok, while Tesla has also pursued humanoid robotics through its Optimus project.

That makes Wilson’s decision to front an explicitly anti-machine campaign particularly striking.

Still, it is important to distinguish between the campaign’s stated message and speculation about its target. Desigual presents “Born to Disobey” as a broader statement about rebellion, individuality, and resisting conformity. Any interpretation that the advertisement targets Musk remains just that: an interpretation.

Wilson and Musk’s Public Feud

Wilson’s appearance in the campaign comes against the backdrop of her highly publicized estrangement from her father.

Vivian Wilson has repeatedly criticized Elon Musk’s public comments about her, including his references to her as his son and his claims surrounding her gender transition.

Elon Musk has previously said he was “tricked” into approving gender-affirming care for Vivian Wilson when she was a minor and has publicly described his relationship with her in deeply hostile terms.

Wilson has rejected his account and accused him of misrepresenting her childhood and deliberately misgendering her.

She legally changed her name to Vivian Jenna Wilson and changed her gender designation in 2022. The legal petition also stated that she no longer wanted to be associated with her biological father.

In a 2025 interview with Teen Vogue, Wilson said she was frustrated by being constantly associated with Musk and wanted to distance herself from that connection.

Vivian Wilson Is Building Her Own Fashion Career

The Desigual campaign is also another significant step in Wilson’s growing modeling career.

She made her New York Fashion Week runway debut in September 2025, appearing in shows associated with designers including Alex Bittar, Prabal Gurung and Chris Habana.

Now, with “Born to Disobey,” Wilson is fronting a campaign that aligns closely with themes of independence and rejecting expectations.

Whether viewers see the robot scenes as an intentional Musk jab or simply an extension of Desigual’s rebellious branding, the timing has guaranteed attention.

As AI and robotics increasingly dominate conversations about the future of work, creativity and human identity, Wilson’s message lands with particular force: technology may be built to obey, but people don’t have to.
