Classical-Electronica Act Samved Launches Debut Album

Classical-electronica artistes Samved have come up with a new debut album Rlung Ta, and a video campaign to educate more people on classical music and electronica.

Electronica outfit with a difference, Samved, a collective that explores newer territories with Hindustani classical music and electronic dance music since 2013 is on a three city tour to launch their debut album Rlung Ta. Rhung La is an 8-track album that involves the following eight songs – “Kama Unit”, “Love Science”, “Anamudi Access”, “Eastern Clouds”, “Maal Kuusa”, “Wind Horse Flight”, “Infinite Days” and “Gyratin’ Solang”.

Talking about how the name of their new album reflected their outlook Samved says, “Fusion to us is a collaboration of different sounds, different cultures, different soil and different colours just like the Rlung Ta… Rlung Ta has variant colours and yet there is uniformity. Our album is a result of all that we have heard, learned, seen and captured during our travels. A heartfelt gratitude and thanks to Team Universal for being such a strong and supportive medium for us to communicate our expression with every one of you.”

Samved has been nominated for Radio City’s Freedom Awards where their song “Love Science” was chosen as one of the top 5 nominations for the Best Song Award in the Folk Fusion category among 700 bands.

The release of their album will be accompanied by a video project as well. The project will run parallel to their album which features some of the best Indian classical musicians to record video tutorials to  teach people how to play classical instruments and various ragas. The group will be following this up with tutorials on electronic music which will feature renowned international electronic artists. The line-up of the band has Ritvik Joe on Programming, Keys, Effects, Samples, Guitars, Abhijeet Hedgepatil on Bass, Programming, Effects, Zeeshan Khan on Vocals, Christie Bourcq on Celtic Vocals, Sangeet Mishra on Sarangi, Chandan Raina as Guitarist and Kirti Prabar Das on Tabla and Percussions.
