Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs Seeks $50M Bond Release Before Sentencing—Here’s What His Lawyers Say

Sean “Diddy” Combs is back in the legal spotlight—this time fighting to leave federal custody before his October 3 sentencing. The 55-year-old music mogul, once synonymous with Bad Boy Records and a high-flying lifestyle, is requesting release on a staggering $50 million bond, arguing through his legal team that he poses no flight risk or danger to society. Sean Diddy Combs has been in custody at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn since his September arrest, but his lawyers insist he should be freed while awaiting sentencing on two prostitution-related charges.

The case has captivated headlines for months. Although Sean Diddy Combs was acquitted earlier in July of the most serious sex trafficking and racketeering charges, his conviction for violating the Mann Act—by transporting male sex workers across state lines—still carries serious legal consequences.

Diddy’s legal team’s 12-page motion, submitted to Judge Arun Subramanian, paints a portrait of a man caught between a public narrative and a consensual private lifestyle. “Sean Combs should not be in jail for this conduct,” the filing states, referencing what his attorneys call a “swinger” lifestyle. The defense downplays allegations from former partners Casandra “Cassie” Ventura and another accuser known as “Jane,” who testified about “freak-off” parties and instances of violence. While video evidence previously showed Combs assaulting Ventura in a hotel hallway, his attorneys claim context is key and allege that Jane “provoked” him during a June 2024 altercation.

Adding complexity to the defense’s appeal, the filing includes mention of Sean Diddy Combs’ voluntary enrollment in a domestic violence program prior to his arrest, a move designed to demonstrate accountability and self-awareness. “He will not squander his second chance at life,” the filing asserts, referencing the four children he shares with the late Kim Porter and the seven children he supports overall.

The $50 million Diddy bond package offered includes strict conditions: house arrest at Sean Diddy Combs’ Miami estate, mental health and substance abuse treatment, limited travel between Florida and New York for legal consultations, and the ability for the court to impose further conditions.

Sean Diddy Combs’ attorneys argue apart from the $50 million bond, that in cases with similar convictions, defendants were often released pending sentencing. Their motion emphasizes that Combs has the means and motivation to comply, especially given the impact incarceration would have on his family.

Now, all eyes turn to Judge Subramanian, whose decision will determine whether Combs can await sentencing in luxury—or remain behind bars in one of America’s toughest detention centers.
