To add to the slowly but surely growing community of French bistros in town, Le Bistro du Parc has opened right in front of the pleasant neighbourhood park of Moolchand Market. This happens to be a very lucky occurrence for people into (a) French food (b) offices and homes in that area, for this happens to be the perfect place to come for languid lunches as the winter sets in. The bay windows, decked up with cheerful greens prep you up for good things to come.
The open shelved cabinet lined with pristine white crockery and tables covered with white linen remind us of our grandma’s house, and other favourite things, so we settle on French Toast (Rs. 450), a staple at the family holiday breakfast table. The dish is a heavier version of the humble toast, and we water it down with a Pom-Berry Bellini (it’s non-alcoholic just by the way). We’ve skipped the appetizer-main course-dessert routine so we go back to Mille Feuille De Fromage De Chevre or Goat Cheese Mille Feuille and are charmed by the light and delicious texture of the dish. The Chicken Liver Parfait comes with a sweet caramelised onion marmalade, the marmalade a quip if you will on American-food-taking-over-the-world and a tangy balsamic reduction. The Salade Mignete has a Chicken Supreme (or Chicken Breast) broken down in a marinade of orange juice and cardamom, is served with a julienne of green apple and celery, goes wonderfully with the light parsley mayonnaise.
While we’re basking in food heaven, let us warn you save space for dessert. (French confectionary and all that.) Mousse au Chocolat it is then, to which we succumb. With pleasure.
