As part of their debut album, The Tapi Project releases video for their single – Paigam
Their debut album talks about common man’s place in a modern world, the cramped up life, rivers, Gods, stories on lost values thirst for self and Sufism on the roads.
Indian contemporary-folk band, The Tapi Project, released the video to their track ‘Paigam’ (message) last week under the Songdew Fresh project by Songdew. The track looks to bring out the emotion of receiving something special and is part of the band’s debut album.
When it comes to genre, The Tapi Project says they are a contemporary folk band with a pinch of world, jazz and fusion too. The artists they are influenced by, or like, are Nina Simone, Bjore, Miles Davis, Radiohead, Ella Fitzgerald, AIR, Louise Armstrong and more.
Their music is formed in contemporary arrangements, woven around inquisitive poetry. Their debut album talks about common man’s place in a modern world, the cramped up life, rivers, Gods, stories on lost values thirst for self and Sufism on the roads.
The band’s line-up consists of 9 people – Swati, Yogi, Anand, Nihit, Osmanbhai, Dhruv, Tuheen, Vinayak and Julien. According to lead vocalist , Swati Minaxi, their music is like sitting beside ‘Tapi’ calling out to the fish and serenading. The band, their lyrics and the music originated in a city where the river Tapi flows.
“The song (Paigam) is about value in the human emotion”, says Yogi Saniyawla – lead guitarist, adding, “which is lost in the digital age.” He goes on to say, “When we composed the song we realized, we actually can make an album and we sound really good!”
