Education Budget 2020: Govt to set up Digital University, to expand PM eVidya scheme
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced a host of initiatives for pandemic battered education sector. In her budget speech, Sitharaman gave impetus to digital education and skilling programmes.
The Finance Minister announced the establishment of a Digital University to provide education that will be built on a hub and spoke model.

One Class One TV Channel of PM eVidya Scheme to counter the loss of learning due to the pandemic. It will be expanded from 12 channels to 200 channels to facilitate supplementary learning for all classes 1 to 12 in regional languages.

Agriculture University syllabus would be revised to accommodate the need of natural, zero-budget and organic farming and modern day agriculture
High quality e-content in all spoken languages will be developed for delivery via internet, mobile phones, tv and through radio and digital teachers.
AICTE will take lead in improving urban planning courses.
Agricultural universities will revise syllabi to meet the needs of modern-day farming
World class universities will be allowed to offer courses in financial services and technology free of indian regulations
Skilling programs will be reoriented and ITIs will start courses on skilling. For skilling, upskilling & reskilling of our youth, Digital DESH e-portal will be launched
