Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) and IONAGE, an eMobility service provider, announced an extension of their partnership to reinforce India’s electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure. This collaboration will ensure that all BPCL EV chargers, present and future, remain accessible via IONAGE’s platform, providing enhanced convenience for EV owners nationwide.
IONAGE, founded in 2021, has offered solutions for businesses and individual EV owners. The company is working toward integrating over 100,000 EV chargers onto its platform by 2028, enabling more than 10,000 Small and Medium-sized Businesses (SMBs) to enter the EV charging sector. By extending its partnership with BPCL, IONAGE aims to accelerate the democratization of India’s EV charging network.
This expanded collaboration builds on BPCL’s successful eDrive Initiative, launched in February 2022. Through this partnership, customers can access BPCL’s vast charging network via IONAGE’s unified platform, which aggregates chargers from multiple Charger Point Operators (CPOs). This integration allows EV users to conveniently utilize chargers from different providers through a single platform.
Mr. Pardeep Goyal, Business Head of Retail at BPCL, emphasized the importance of accessibility, saying, “Our collaboration with IONAGE ensures that customers can easily use BPCL’s chargers through IONAGE’s platform, enhancing convenience and utilization of our charging infrastructure.”
Mr. Vimal Kumar, CEO of IONAGE, echoed this sentiment, stating, “Our extended partnership with BPCL is a significant step toward making EV charging more accessible and reliable across India.”
India is witnessing rapid EV infrastructure growth, with over 12,000 public charging stations established nationwide. As the government pushes for 30% electrification of the automobile fleet by 2030, the collaboration between BPCL and IONAGE will be a key driver in meeting these ambitious goals, supporting the nation’s transition to electric mobility.
