2026 Kawasaki Z650RS Launched in India at Rs 7.83 Lakh

Kawasaki has officially launched the 2026 Z650RS in India, pricing the neo-retro motorcycle at Rs 7.83 lakh (ex-showroom). While the design and mechanicals remain largely unchanged, the updated model gains E20 fuel compliance, aligning it with India’s evolving emission and fuel standards. Alongside this update, the Kawasaki Z650RS also receives a new paint scheme and a modest price hike.

What’s New on the 2026 Kawasaki Z650RS?

The biggest update for 2026 is the E20-compatible engine, making the Kawasaki Z650RS suitable for fuel blended with up to 20 percent ethanol. Kawasaki has been rolling out this update across its 650cc lineup, following the Ninja 650 and Versys 650, and the Z650RS is the latest to receive this compliance upgrade.

Visually, the motorcycle now features a new metallic blue-and-gold paint scheme, replacing the earlier black-and-gold colourway. The retro-inspired graphics remain unchanged, as do the signature gold alloy wheels, which continue to enhance the bike’s classic aesthetic.

Engine and Performance Details

Mechanically, the 2026 Kawasaki Z650RS remains identical to the outgoing model. Powering the motorcycle is the familiar 649cc parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine, paired with a 6-speed gearbox.

  • Maximum power: 68hp

  • Peak torque: 62.1Nm

While the power output remains the same, the torque figure is 1.9Nm lower than the previous version. This minor reduction is a result of tuning changes required to meet E20 fuel compatibility standards. In real-world riding conditions, the difference is expected to be negligible, especially for everyday street use.

Pricing and Premium Over the Outgoing Model

The updated Z650RS is priced at Rs 7.83 lakh (ex-showroom), which is Rs 14,000 more than the outgoing model that retailed at Rs 7.69 lakh. The price hike is modest and primarily reflects the cost of emission-related updates and the new colour option.

Despite the increase, the Z650RS continues to occupy a unique position in Kawasaki’s Indian lineup, appealing to riders who want modern performance wrapped in a timeless, retro-inspired design.

Neo-Retro Appeal Remains Strong

With its round LED headlamp, twin-pod instrument cluster, sculpted fuel tank, and upright ergonomics, the Z650RS stays true to its neo-retro philosophy. It blends classic styling cues with modern underpinnings, making it an attractive option for riders seeking both nostalgia and reliability.

The 2026 update may be evolutionary rather than revolutionary, but it ensures the Kawasaki Z650RS remains future-ready, compliant with fuel norms while retaining the charm that has defined the RS badge.
