Ola Electric, India’s premier electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer, has kicked off the festive season with a remarkable performance, capturing 34% of the two-wheeler EV market as of mid-October 2024. This achievement positions the company as a dominant force in the rapidly expanding electric mobility sector, further solidifying its leadership.

According to data from the Vahan portal, Ola Electric registered over 15,672 vehicles by October 14, driving its commanding market share. This surge in sales is largely attributed to the success of Ola’s S1 scooter portfolio, which has become a favourite among Indian consumers due to its sleek design, advanced features, and affordability. The S1 series, including the S1 Air and S1 Pro, offers different variants tailored to meet the needs of urban commuters and performance enthusiasts alike.




Ola Electric has recently faced a surge in service-related issues, with a growing number of customer complaints. It has been reported that the company grapples with over 80,000 monthly complaints, primarily about long wait times for repairs and service appointments. Customers have reported delays of up to 45 days for repairs, with some scooters languishing at service centres even longer. Ola’s service centres are struggling with overcapacity and understaffing, contributing to mounting frustration among users. Recently, Ola Electric’s CEO, Bhavish Aggarwal, also had an online spat on X with comedian Kunal Kamra, who highlighted these issues.

Despite these service issues, Ola Electric remains committed to expanding its EV portfolio and service network, hoping to mitigate these challenges in the coming months.

The festive season leading up to Diwali in India is a critical period for consumer purchases, particularly in the automotive sector. Ola Electric’s strategy of launching attractive offers and expanding its service network has played a crucial role in this success. The company has rapidly grown its service infrastructure, ensuring that customers across India have easy access to maintenance and support, which is critical for EV adoption in a country with a diverse geographic and economic landscape.

Ola Electric’s CEO, Bhavish Aggarwal, has consistently emphasized the company’s vision of revolutionizing mobility in India by transitioning to electric vehicles at scale.
