Ammy Virk Canada Shooting: Punjabi Singer’s Convoy Caught in Gunfire After Concert

Punjabi singer and actor Ammy Virk was caught up in a frightening shooting incident in Canada after his concert in Abbotsford, British Columbia, when a vehicle linked to his concert convoy came under fire late on September 5.

The Abbotsford Police Department confirmed that a vehicle traveling in the 2500 block of McCallum Road was fired upon shortly after 11 pm. Police said occupants of a dark-coloured SUV fired multiple shots at the vehicle. Fortunately, nobody was injured.

Indian and Canadian media reports have linked the vehicle to Ammy Virk’s concert convoy, although police have not publicly confirmed who was inside.

Seven Shots Reportedly Fired at Vehicle

The incident occurred hours after Virk performed at the Rogers Forum as part of the Canadian leg of his 2026 Unity Tour.

Several reports have claimed that as many as seven rounds were fired at the vehicle. Some reports also described the vehicle as bullet-resistant and said Virk was traveling in the convoy.

However, the singer’s father, Kuljit Singh, subsequently said Virk was safe and that the shooting was not directed at his son’s vehicle. According to his account, the incident was connected to people involved in organizing the concert.

Police have not publicly identified the occupants or confirmed these reports.

SUV Found Burning After Shooting

The case took another dramatic turn shortly after the shooting.

Police responding to a separate report of a vehicle fire in the 2400 block of Sunnyside Place discovered an SUV completely engulfed in flames. Investigators are now examining whether that vehicle is connected to the shooting.

The Abbotsford Police Major Crime Unit has taken control of the investigation. Police said preliminary information indicates the shooting was targeted, but investigators are still working to determine the motive.

No arrests or claims of responsibility have been announced.

Police Hunt for Dashcam Evidence

Investigators are appealing to anyone who witnessed suspicious activity or captured the incident on dashcam to come forward.

Police are particularly seeking footage from the McCallum Road area between 10:45 pm and 11:30 pm, as well as the Sunnyside Place area between 11 pm and midnight on September 5.

The case comes amid wider concern over violent incidents involving members of the Punjabi entertainment community in Canada.

Virk is one of Punjabi cinema and music’s best-known names, with credits including Angrej, Qismat and Laung Laachi. His latest tour has brought him to audiences across Canada.

For now, the biggest question remains unanswered: who opened fire, why was the vehicle targeted, and was the burning SUV part of the same attack?

Police say the investigation remains active.
