The Kejriwal government is reportedly taking steps to draft a startup policy aiming to encourage and foster entrepreneurship in Delhi. The first draft of which was presented at meeting organised by Delhi’s Industries Department.
The Mohanjeet Singh, Principal Secretary, Industries said that the Delhi is currently home to a number of startups that are flourishing and the vision of the policy in the making is to create a world-class startup ecosystem in the national capital through strategic investment and policy interventions to leverage the innovation climate here.
As per reports, the government is looking to push the growth for entrepreneurship in order to create new jobs and fuel economic growth. In addition, it is expected to bring competitive dynamics into the current economic system. The aim is also to facilitate generation of innovative technology solutions with a social impact.
The Delhi government had also earlier decided to establish an Incubation Centre at the Emporium Building with the objective of providing not just infrastructural support but also an environment conducive for the startup ecosystem in the national capital to grow.
