According to court documents, FBI agents executed a search warrant at David Rush’s Virginia home and reportedly discovered approximately 303 one-kilogram gold bars valued at more than $40 million. Investigators also seized roughly $2 million in U.S. currency and dozens of luxury watches, many of them high-end Rolex models.

The discovery followed concerns raised by the CIA after David Rush allegedly requested large quantities of foreign currency and gold bars for what were described as official work-related expenses between late 2025 and early 2026.

When agency officials attempted to verify the use and location of those assets, investigators reportedly found no clear accounting records explaining where the money and gold had gone.

Allegations of Fraudulent Credentials

The case extends beyond the missing assets.

Federal investigators allege that David Rush may have misrepresented parts of his academic and military background over several years. According to the affidavit, he claimed degrees from Clemson University and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, along with military aviation experience.

Investigators later reported finding no records confirming attendance at either institution. The affidavit also states there is no evidence that Rush served as a military pilot or test pilot as claimed in multiple employment applications.

Authorities are further examining allegations that Rush continued to claim military leave benefits after leaving the U.S. Navy Reserves in 2015, resulting in tens of thousands of dollars in compensation.

The prominence of gold in the case has sparked public curiosity.

While most U.S. government gold is held as a financial reserve, precious metals have historically been used in intelligence, diplomatic, and military operations where traditional banking systems may be inaccessible or impractical.

Gold is often considered a portable and universally accepted store of value, making it useful in certain high-risk environments. However, investigators have not publicly detailed the specific operational purpose behind the gold allegedly issued to David Rush.

Rush remains in federal custody as legal proceedings move forward. He has not entered a plea, and the allegations remain unproven in court.
