Tucker Carlson Wants Trump Impeached, Removed ‘Immediately’ Over Nuclear Threat

Tucker Carlson has delivered one of his sharpest attacks yet on Donald Trump, saying any president who seriously considers using nuclear weapons should be removed from office immediately.

The conservative commentator and former Fox News host, once one of Trump’s most prominent media allies, said the president should be removed from office “immediately” if he is considering the first use of nuclear weapons in the escalating conflict involving the United States, Israel and Iran.

Carlson made the comments during a recent episode of The Tucker Carlson Show, where he discussed the dangers of nuclear escalation with Joe Kent, a former director of the National Counterterrorism Center who previously resigned from the Trump administration in opposition to the Iran war.

Tucker Carlson emphasized that his position represented a dramatic departure from his previous stance on efforts to remove Trump.

Carlson Draws a Nuclear ‘Red Line’

Carlson said he had been “strongly opposed” to the two previous impeachment efforts against Trump, describing them as misguided.

But he argued that the potential first use of nuclear weapons would be fundamentally different.

“The second any president actively considers first use of nuclear weapons, that person should be removed from office immediately,” Carlson said, arguing that such a scenario must constitute an absolute political red line.

He questioned why lawmakers were not already discussing Trump’s removal if nuclear weapons were genuinely being considered.

Tucker Carlson characterized the prospect as potentially catastrophic, saying the consequences of a nuclear strike could extend far beyond the immediate conflict.

Undersecretary of Defense for Policy Elbridge Colby recently discussed the goal of maintaining what he described as credible nuclear options for the president and defense secretary.

That does not necessarily represent a change in U.S. nuclear first-use policy. Washington has historically retained the option of using nuclear weapons under certain circumstances.

Tucker Carlson nevertheless warned that the discussion itself should alarm Americans.

He argued that the possibility of tactical nuclear weapons being considered in connection with Iran creates an unacceptable danger of escalation.

Joe Kent similarly warned that a strategy aimed at forcing regime change in Iran could eventually push policymakers toward increasingly extreme military choices.

Carlson’s Break With the Republican Party

Carlson’s criticism is part of a broader political split.

In June, he said he was breaking with the Republican Party and indicated that he no longer intended to support the GOP. He has also discussed helping establish a potential third political party.

His opposition to the Iran conflict has increasingly placed him at odds with sections of Trump’s political coalition.

Carlson has separately described nuclear war and artificial intelligence as two of the greatest threats in human history, arguing that governments are struggling to respond adequately to both.

Carlson’s demand for Trump’s immediate removal is political commentary, not an indication that a formal removal process is underway.

Trump remains president, and Carlson’s remarks do not themselves trigger impeachment or any other constitutional mechanism.

The White House was contacted for comment regarding Carlson’s statements, but no immediate response was reported.

The confrontation nevertheless highlights a growing fault line inside the broader conservative movement: how far should the United States go in confronting Iran, and where should the line be drawn when nuclear weapons enter the conversation?
