Drake on Cease and Desist to Kendrick Lamar over ‘Not Like Us’

Recent rumours suggesting that Drake sent a cease and desist letter to Kendrick Lamar regarding his song “Not Like Us” ahead of Lamar’s Super Bowl LIX performance have been dismissed by Drake’s team. The rumours originated after Wack 100, a music manager, claimed on Clubhouse that Drake was attempting to prevent Lamar from performing the track. However, Drake’s representatives have confirmed that these allegations are false, stating there was “never any intention or plan to send a cease and desist” to Kendrick Lamar or anyone else.

Wack 100’s comments quickly circulated on social media, sparking debates among fans and raising speculation about possible tensions between the two rappers. Wack later clarified that his statements were based on information he had read online, admitting that he had no direct knowledge of any cease and desist orders. Despite the rumours, both artists’ camps have made it clear that there is no ongoing legal conflict regarding the song.

The alleged feud between Drake and Kendrick Lamar dates back to earlier moments in their careers, particularly with Lamar’s verse on Future and Metro Boomin’s track “Like That,” where he seemingly dissed Drake. The back-and-forth between the artists continued with a series of diss tracks, but both have maintained professional trajectories despite these exchanges.

As of now, Kendrick Lamar is set to perform at the highly anticipated Super Bowl LIX halftime show in February 2025, and there are no indications that any legal disputes will interfere with the performance. Fans can look forward to what promises to be a standout show, free from the drama that recent rumours suggested.

Charlamagne Tha God recently stirred the pot with his prediction that legal challenges could arise from Drake over Kendrick Lamar’s upcoming Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show performance. During a recent episode of The Breakfast Club, the radio host speculated that Lamar’s inclusion of his controversial track “Not Like Us” in the setlist could lead to a major legal dispute, particularly because the song is known for its direct jabs at Drake.

Also, many now appreciate Drake’s musical response with Family Matters which was buried by Kendrick Lamar dropping back to back tracks.
