GES kick starts with a bang, B. K. Chaturvedi, Vikas Agarwal speak at the opening ceremony

The Global Entrepreneurship kick started on January 8th at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur at 8pm. The opening ceremony saw guest speakers B. K. Chaturvedi, an Indian civil servant and former cabinet secretary of the Government of India. The Padma Bhushan award recipient talked about the Vikas Agarwal, managing director of One Plus, Chinese smartphone manufacturer talked about increasing social media influence and how social media and word of mouth and digital marketing is changing the advertising word. Citing an example of his recently launch smartphone one plus two, he said that the company didn’t have to spent exorbitant amount of money on advertising the product as social media and word of mouth did the trick.

He also spoke about the value of a product for an entrepreneur. He said, “Entrepreneurs should focus on their product, integrity of the product, value of time and tapping opportunities. An entrepreneur should never settle but aspire to do his best and aim to guide and inspire fellow entrepreneurs”.

Chaturvedi who attended the event for the first time, talked about GES and said, it is a very nice event that stimulates entrepreneurship and there are smart girls and boys in IIT who have a good knowledge of technology and this is a platform where they can come forward and discuss and create innovative ideas. IIT has taken a very fine lead by organising this event and several of these ideas will define future start-ups and help in continuing to build the start-up eco-system in the country.

The opening ceremony was followed by a National Product Expo which had latest product displays by Samsung, Augray, LiFi and more.
