Narendra Modi, on November 12, announced through a Tweet that he is leaving for the United Kingdom, for a three-day trip. During the trip the Prime Minister is going to hold a series of meetings with entrepreneurs and business leaders with an aim to strengthen business relations between the two countries.
Modi will address the Indian community at Wembley, UK’s largest stadium. This will be followed by lunch with the Queen of England. Despite the recent Bihar assembly election results where Modi’s party faced defeat, non-resident Indians and London-based businessmen with large investments in India are eagerly waiting for this visit.
As many as 600 artists are expected to be performing, while over 60,000 people will expectedly gather to welcome the Indian Prime Minister. A welcome speech will also be given by the Prime Minister of UK, David Cameron. Deals worth 10 billion pounds are expected to be signed during the course of Modi’s visit.
PM Modi’s busy schedule includes lunch with the queen, visit to the Mahatma Gandhi statue in the Parliament Square, addressing a joint session in the parliament with his UK counterpart. He will also attend an event for British Indians, and stay the night at Chequers. He will also be addressing rallies in London besides unveiling a statue of the 12th century philosopher Basaveshwar and inaugurating the Ambedkar House museum in north London.
