Euphoria Season 3 Trailer Unleashes a Dark, Grown-Up Future for Zendaya and Company

After years of anticipation, HBO has finally released the first trailer for Euphoria Season 3, offering a haunting glimpse into the next chapter of Sam Levinson’s provocative drama. The new season premieres April 12 on HBO and HBO Max, marking the show’s return nearly four years after its polarizing second season.

A Bold Five-Year Time Jump

Season 3 takes a dramatic leap forward, jumping five years after the events of Season 2 and firmly leaving high school behind. Creator Sam Levinson has said the time jump was intentional, allowing the characters to confront adulthood without revisiting familiar teen tropes.

The trailer confirms major life changes: Cassie (Sydney Sweeney) and Nate (Jacob Elordi) are now married and living in the suburbs, while Rue (Zendaya) is shown in Mexico, entangled with drug dealers and attempting to pay off a dangerous debt to Laurie (Martha Kelly). Meanwhile, Jules (Hunter Schafer) appears to be navigating life as a sugar baby, aligning with Levinson’s earlier comments that the character is now attending art school.

Returning Cast — and Notable Absences

Most of the core cast returns for Season 3, including Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, Hunter Schafer, Jacob Elordi, Alexa Demie, Maude Apatow, Chloe Cherry, Colman Domingo, Dominic Fike, Eric Dane, and Martha Kelly.

However, Barbie Ferreira, Storm Reid, Javon “Wanna” Walton, and Austin Abrams will not return. The season also carries emotional weight following the death of Angus Cloud, who portrayed fan-favorite Fezco and passed away in July 2023 at age 25.

An All-Star Lineup of New Faces

Euphoria Season 3 introduces an eclectic and high-profile group of newcomers, including Sharon Stone, Rosalía, Natasha Lyonne, Danielle Deadwyler, Trisha Paytas, Eli Roth, and Marshawn Lynch. Oscar winner Hans Zimmer also joins the series as a composer, signaling a more cinematic ambition for the new season.

Colman Domingo recently described the upcoming episodes as “devastatingly gorgeous” and suggested the show is evolving beyond television into something closer to film.

Themes of Faith, Redemption, and Moral Collapse

The official logline teases a more philosophical turn: “A group of childhood friends wrestle with the virtue of faith, the possibility of redemption, and the problem of evil.” True to form, the trailer is filled with sex, drugs, violence, and emotional reckoning — but now filtered through adult consequences rather than teenage rebellion.

With Zendaya fresh off Challengers, Sydney Sweeney leading The Housemaid, and Elordi riding awards buzz for Frankenstein, Euphoria Season 3 arrives with its cast at the height of their careers.

If the trailer is any indication, Euphoria isn’t just back — it’s darker, riskier, and more ambitious than ever.
