Influenced by the ideologies of Kabir, Bob Dylan and Sri Aurobindo, the urban folk outfit Avi & The Uprising have struck yet another note of existentialism in the new video for their track “Wahe Guru”. Released on January 27, the video is something Avijit Misra aka Avi, the vocalist-songwriter of the band, calls a ‘Rajmation’ video. With underlying principles of agrarianism and faith, the song addresses three concerns – existence, logic and surrender.

Avi & The Uprising is more than a band; it’s a platform that’s trying to find and unite the voices of Indian street entertainers and tribal communities. In 2013, their debut video “Boom Boom Shiva” was featured on VH1. “Wahe Guru” was penned by Avi while trekking through the valleys of the Himalayas.
