Rabbi Shergill, Sona Mahapatra to Pay Respect to Nirbhaya
On December 16 2012, the ‘Nirbahaya’ gang rape incident threw the entire country into a state of shock. To mark one year of the tragedy and pay respect to the girl, Mumbai-based protest music and theatre group Swaang, and cultural group Majma from Delhi have organized a week-long campaign titled Jurrat: Aazaad Chalo, Bebaak Chalo from December 10 to 16. The campaign will culminate on December 16 with a mobile music concert featuring Rabbi Shergill, Sona Mahapatra, and Swanand Kirkire, tracking the ‘rape route’ that covers five to six spots where rape was reported in the recent years.
Starting from Saket, through Mehrauli bus depot, the artistes will perform at five to six places before their final performance at JNU at 7pm. For updates on Swaang, see here.
