Why Should Boys Pay All The Bills?

In response to the Broke Girl’s Guide and their freedom to partying recklessly through the week, we’ve got a list that, although not as extensive as the girls’ list (Because we’re not the fairer kind), allows the boys build on the male bonding. If girls were to join the party, the boyfriends would be reduced to bill payers. Who wants that, right? Let’s celebrate the boys night out.

Discriminated. Ignored. Neglected. Scorned Upon. Side-lined.

Such has been the unfortunate description of women in the recent past. But no, today we’re not talking about the fairer kind. We’re talking about boys who are plagued by a sickness that leaves them with one of the world’s most incurable disease. A disease that renders them on all fours with ‘horns’, grovelling for a decent night’s fun! A disease called ‘STAG’. Yes, while girls in the party circuit are much yearned for by club owners, bar owners, guys outside clubs, auto-rickshaw folk, and many others, boys on the other hand are treated as a venereal disease that cannot be entertained without a girl.

If girls can drink round-the-clock for 7 days straight without harming their clutches, guys have alternatives too. It’s time to preserve the self-respect and dignity. You can carry a blow-up doll that looks like a girl, dress your lean guy friends as girls, or go through a sex change. Desperate much? If you strike out with these indispensible options try out the venues below that will have you with a smile on their face and a song on their lips.

My Bar Lounge always has a section where happy hours get coupled with the no-need-girls-for-entry emotion. Be it at Connaught Place, Paharganj, or even the upmarket locality of GK1 – ample space with subtle lighting is all you can ask for while consuming beer and engaging in male bonding. And, if you manage to get a girl, and if you’re not half as hopeless as this article sounds, then there’s a separate floor for you. My Bar has solutions for everyone. Their nominally priced liquor – for lack of a cheesier line – brings the boys and girls to the yard.

Qualifying as a dive bar but with moderately bright lighting and superficially grand seats, 4S Restobar in Defence Colony Market, essentially a Chinese restaurant, is the best place where you can drink your heart out without pouring your money out. Through the week, their happy hours run till midnight. Just, beware of the not-so-thin older uncles drinking solo and smashing bottles on the floor, which oftentimes is followed by their own hysterical laughter.

Located at Outer Circle Connaught Place, Blues, regularly sees live bands performing classic rock songs, gives you the liberty to smoke inside, and sees a packed house at most times. One of the oldest bars in Delhi, Blues offers happy hours till 8 pm every night, and, if you grease the wheels well enough, the waiter will extend it for as long as you like.

On Saturdays, bars, pubs and clubs, are packed to the brim. So pick up alcohol and do a road trip. No one is advising drinking and driving. Catch a guinea pig of a friend who drives and does not drink (It’s easier to find a girl). But if you do find one, drive down to Neemrana and celebrate the spirit of old forts in your car ‘o’ bar (a very typical Delhi term for the uninitiated). More often than not, exiting the cordoned and imposing walls of a city unclogs the mind and lends a better perspective.

If going out is not your thing or it’s the end of the month and you have bare minimum to eat, and a PS3 and FIFA 13 sits in your drawing room unattended, call people over, and play all night. Nothing can be more satisfying than winning game after game. Connect the speakers, make a gaming playlist and let you fingers do that talking.
