Arc System Works
Arc System’s Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, Most Ambitious Marvel Fighting Game Ever
Marvel fans and fighting game diehards, rejoice: the Marvel Universe is officially entering the 4v4 arena. Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, a brand-new tag-team fighting game developed by Arc System Works (the creators of Guilty Gear and Dragon Ball FighterZ), was revealed during Sony’s State of Play in June 2025. And yes—it looks like pure, high-octane chaos in the best possible way.
Coming to PlayStation 5 and PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store) in 2026, Arc System Works’ Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls features an all-star roster of Marvel heroes and villains, stylized with Arc’s signature anime-inspired visuals. The game will showcase fan favorites like Spider-Man, Iron Man, Doctor Doom, Captain America, Storm, Star-Lord, Ghost Rider (Robbie Reyes), and Ms. Marvel, each reimagined with custom movesets, cinematic ultimate skills, and jaw-dropping battle effects.
Marvel’s 4v4 Fighting Revolution
What sets this title apart is its 4v4 tag-based combat system, a radical twist on traditional team fighting formats, which usually max out at 3v3. But don’t worry—you only need to master one character to compete. That’s right. According to Game Director Kazuto Sekine, the game’s mechanics are designed to be accessible and intuitive, with both traditional inputs and simplified commands allowing for explosive team-up attacks, assist combos, and ultimate finishers.
“With the press of a few buttons, multiple characters can appear on screen to provide backup or attack together – creating a new and exciting team VS battle experience,” said Kazuto Sekine.
This isn’t just another versus brawler. Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls aims to evolve the tag-fighting genre, drawing inspiration from the dynamic ensemble storytelling of the Marvel Comics universe. Players will experience the thrill of building dream teams across multi-phase battlegrounds, including an interactive version of Marvel’s New York City, with strategic environmental transitions.
From Comic Panels to Combo Chains
Each hero or villain is equipped with Normal, Special, and Unique attacks rooted in their comic lore. Expect Spidey’s web-slinging agility, Iron Man’s high-tech lasers, and Ghost Rider’s fiery chain attacks—all rendered in Arc’s stunning 2.5D art style.
“The appeal of Marvel is in the massive character roster and unpredictable team-ups,” Kazuto Sekine explained. “We wanted to capture that by pushing the team format beyond its limits.”
