KTM’s Parent Company Renamed to Bajaj Mobility AG After Full Bajaj Takeover
In a landmark move for the global motorcycle industry, Pierer Mobility AG has officially been renamed Bajaj Mobility AG, marking the completion of Bajaj Auto’s full takeover of KTM. Announced on January 13, 2026, the renaming signals a decisive shift in ownership and strategy, placing one of India’s largest automotive manufacturers firmly at the helm of Europe’s most iconic performance motorcycle brand.
The change had been widely anticipated since November 2025, when Bajaj Auto confirmed it had acquired complete control of KTM through its wholly owned subsidiary, Bajaj Auto International Holdings BV (BAIH BV).
How Bajaj Secured Full Control of KTM
The final step in the takeover came on November 18, 2025, when BAIH BV purchased all 50,100 shares of Pierer Bajaj AG (PBAG) from Pierer Industrie AG. This transaction effectively ended the Pierer Group’s involvement and cemented Bajaj Auto as the majority and controlling stakeholder.
With the renaming, Bajaj Mobility AG now serves as the holding company for KTM, Husqvarna, and GasGas, all of which continue to operate under the KTM Group umbrella. Despite the ownership shift, the company’s headquarters will remain in Mattighofen, Austria, preserving KTM’s European roots.
New Identity, Same Core Brands
Alongside the name change, Bajaj Mobility AG has unveiled a new corporate logo that reflects its fresh identity and strategic direction. While the branding evolves, the group has clarified that KTM, GasGas, and Husqvarna will retain their distinct brand identities and product philosophies.
This transition comes at a critical time for KTM, which has been navigating financial turbulence since late 2024, when insolvency risks triggered a wide-ranging restructuring programme.
Job Cuts and Restructuring After Insolvency Scare
As part of its recovery plan, KTM AG has reduced its workforce by approximately 500 employees, primarily affecting white-collar roles and middle management. As of December 31, 2025, the company’s headcount stood at 3,794 employees, down sharply from 5,310 a year earlier.
According to company filings, the restructuring focuses on reducing fixed costs, streamlining management layers, narrowing the product portfolio, and optimising global operations. CEO Gottfried Neumeister stated that removing complexity across departments was essential to stabilise the business and prepare it for long-term competitiveness.
Financial Challenges and Signs of Recovery
Bajaj Mobility AG reported consolidated sales of just over €1 billion in FY2025, a 46 per cent decline year-on-year. However, there were signs of recovery in the second half of the year, with motorcycle sales rising 60 per cent compared to the first half.
The company also achieved a major inventory correction, cutting stock levels by more than 100,000 units, aided by stronger-than-expected customer demand.
What This Means for KTM’s Future
With Bajaj Auto now firmly in control, KTM enters a new chapter backed by deep financial resources, global manufacturing expertise, and a long-term strategic vision. While restructuring challenges remain, the focus on core motorcycle brands and operational efficiency positions KTM, Husqvarna, and GasGas for renewed growth.
As Bajaj Mobility AG settles into its new identity, the global motorcycle industry will be watching closely to see how this Indo-European partnership reshapes performance biking in 2026 and beyond.
