Elliot Page on Reuniting With Christopher Nolan for ‘The Odyssey’: “It Meant So Much to Me”

Elliot Page has officially reunited with acclaimed filmmaker Christopher Nolan for the upcoming historical epic The Odyssey, 15 years after their collaboration on Inception. Speaking at New York Comic Con, Page expressed his excitement and gratitude for being invited back by the director who helped shape one of his most celebrated roles.

“I was so excited to be thought of for The Odyssey and to be asked to come back to work with him,” Elliot Page said during a panel appearance. “I loved working with Chris on Inception and was just completely jazzed and excited. It was such a joy to come back.”

Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, inspired by Homer’s legendary poem, is slated for a July 2026 theatrical release and features a star-studded ensemble that includes Matt Damon as Odysseus, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Mia Goth, and Lupita Nyong’o.

Finding Comfort, Finding Meaning

For Elliot Page, who publicly came out as transgender in 2020, returning to a major Christopher Nolan production carried an emotional depth that went beyond career milestones. “To come back now, as you can imagine, being more comfortable in yourself makes these sorts of projects more enjoyable,” Page shared. “To get to have a Chris Nolan experience again now meant so much to me selfishly.”

Elliot Page reflected on how the filmmaking process felt both familiar and transformative. “You go to an office, read the script, then you leave,” he explained. “Reading The Odyssey felt like getting on a ride — things feel big and maybe confusing at first, but then all the pieces start coming together. At the core, emotionally, it’s so beautiful.”

The Nolan Touch: Mystery and Emotion

Much like Inception, The Odyssey is shrouded in secrecy. Details about Elliot Page’s role remain under wraps, but early reactions from insiders hint at a deeply emotional character arc. Fans are already speculating that Page may play one of the myth’s pivotal figures, possibly a modern reinterpretation of a classical archetype.

Page’s reflections suggest that The Odyssey will blend Nolan’s signature storytelling style — intricate plots, emotional stakes, and grand visuals — with the timeless human themes of identity, belonging, and transformation.

Following the final season of The Umbrella Academy, The Odyssey marks a new chapter in Page’s evolving career. His last feature film, Close to You (2023), explored themes of authenticity and reconnection — a narrative that resonates with his personal and professional evolution.

For audiences who remember his performance as the brilliant architect Ariadne in Inception, seeing Elliot Page return to Nolan’s cinematic world represents more than nostalgia — it’s a full-circle moment celebrating growth, artistry, and self-acceptance.
