Walton Goggins, Eric André, and Orville Peck Eyed for Live-Action Street Fighter With Jason Momoa
The cast of the upcoming Street Fighter live-action reboot is shaping up to be one of the most unexpected and buzz-worthy ensembles in recent video game adaptation history. According to a new report by industry insider Jeff Sneider, Walton Goggins is in talks to play the iconic villain M. Bison, potentially joining Jason Momoa and a host of other high-profile names in Legendary Entertainment’s reboot of the Capcom fighting franchise.
Jeff Sneider, writing in his latest newsletter and discussing on The Hot Mic podcast with John Rocha, revealed that Walton Goggins is being considered for the role of M. Bison — the powerful and ruthless antagonist synonymous with the Street Fighter universe. If confirmed, Walton Goggins would follow in the footsteps of the late Raúl Juliá, who famously portrayed the villain in the 1994 Street Fighter film.
The casting choice for Street Fighter live-action film surprised even Sneider, who said, “I thought [Goggins] might land something a little more prestigious, but at the same time, it’s maybe time to get a nice movie paycheck.” Still, with his recent string of standout performances in hit series like Fallout, The Righteous Gemstones, and The White Lotus, Walton Goggins has proven he can bring gravitas, menace, and charisma — all key ingredients for a memorable Bison.
But Goggins isn’t the only eyebrow-raising name in the mix.
The report also suggests that comedian Eric André is being eyed to play a ring announcer, a role that could inject comedic flair into the high-octane action. André previously worked with Street Fighter director Kitao Sakurai on the 2021 hidden-camera comedy Bad Trip. Meanwhile, country artist Orville Peck is reportedly in consideration for the role of Vega, the flamboyant, masked Spanish fighter known for combining ninjutsu with bullfighting techniques. Peck’s on-stage persona, complete with a signature mask, makes him a visually striking and thematically aligned choice.
Jason Momoa, who was previously reported to be circling the project, has not yet been officially confirmed but is widely expected to take on a central role, possibly as Ryu or Guile. Other rumoured cast members include WWE star Roman Reigns, Warrior’s Andrew Koji, and To All the Boys actor Noah Centineo, suggesting a blend of physicality and star power across the board.
With Legendary Entertainment producing and Capcom overseeing creative development, this Street Fighter live-action reboot is shaping up to be far more ambitious than its ’90s predecessor. No release date has been set, but casting announcements are expected to accelerate in the coming months.
For now, fans can only speculate — but one thing is clear: this fight card is starting to look seriously stacked.
