Deadmau5 Releases New Track on Richie Hawtin’s Label
Only last week, after engaging in an appreciatory banter with Punjabi singer Daler Mahendi on Twitter and releasing a remixed scratch online of the original “Tunak Tunak” (listen here), progressive house producer Deadmau5 is on a spree of experimenting with minimalist techno singles under his new moniker testpilot. The new track titled “Sunspot (White Space Conflict)”, released on Richie Hawtin’s Plus 8 Records is unlike any of the Canadian house artist’s usual dance anthems.
In fact, Richie Hawtin has been one of the pioneers of minimal techno since the mid-90s worldwide. So it was only a matter of time that the duo collaborated. In a public statement about the new release, Deadmau5 said, “It’s been nearly two years since the last Plus 8 record, but it seemed fitting that this record in particular, made by another skinny white kid from Canada, became part of the label’s collection and history.”
Deadmau5, or Joel Zimmerman, created a stir in the world with his dance tracks including hit singles like “Ghosts & Stuff” and “Strobe” among others. The latest techno release “Sunspot (White Space Conflict)”, however, is going to be a delight for fans in India who are eagerly awaiting the Canadian producer’s arrival for his three-city tour from March 14 to 16 in Mumbai, Bangalore and Delhi in the same order.
