Re-Insurrected: One Of Bangalore’s Most Brutal Heavy Metal Shows Returns

After just two months, the second version of this metal fest is back. Nine bands will be playing the second edition of the highly successful Insurrection. With a line-up consisting of the most contemporary, relevant, upcoming and dedicated names in the Bangalore/Chennai metal scene, fans are eagerly awaiting 9 February, for what promises to be a mega-walloping event.

insurrection1The first volume, in early December 2013 at Ion Bar and Kitchen, was quite a hit, despite the venue’s sound problems. It seems that the organisers have picked up just the right mix of contemporary metal acts to ensure the fest’s success. With the likes of The Down Troddence, Verses and DJinn and Miskatonic, the line-up was well thought out.

Now again, a blazing set of acts are all set to mosh at Insurrection Vol.2.

Orchid: With the current line-up formed in late 2011, watch out for some eccentric, yet groovy time signatures and some growling that will blow your brains flat out.

Nihilus: Fresh out of winning Blitzkrieg 2014, these boys will make you mosh with some crazy blast beats and hardcore riffing straight of the ‘technical death’ kind.

XECTOR: Formed as Spitfire in 2005, the re-deubbed version of the group played the first edition of Insurrection. Expect some melodic tracks from their new Delirium release

Shepherd: Redesigned as a three-piece, heavily inspired by The Melvins, get ready for some intense sludge sounds brain numbing low doom notes.

Trojan Horse from Chennai

Trojan Horse: Coming down from Chennai for the first time to play some of their grooves like LIMCA, or Life In Monochromatic Animation, their progressive, yet heavy dynamic will have you headbanging wildly.

Necrophilia: Having emerged in 2008, we have heard surprisingly little of this gory four-piece act. However, they are all set to pump in some very experimental death into your brain.

Festered Wound: As gore grind as you can get, this extremely loud and brutal act will send you running for cover, with their hard hitting, yet incredibly short tracks.

Dark Desolation: With an impeccable album out, these face-painted metallers promise to bring down hell with some of the darkest black metal out there.

Neolithic Silence: Having been around for the better part of a decade, this melodic death/thrash metal three-piece is promising to give out some free merchandise as celebration.

Insurrection Vol2 happens on 9 February 2014, at Tinga Tinga Bar (the old Couch lounge) on MG Road.
