Voonik acquires Dekkoh
The consolidation game further continues for fashion etailer Voonik, as they complete their fifth acquisition in the last few months in styling and personalization app Dekkoh for an undisclosed amount.
The Bangalore-based company has acqui-hired Zohraa, Picksilk, Styl, TrialKart and Getsy.
Sujayath Ali, the CEO and co-founder of Voonik, said, “Voonik is built around personalised fashion, to provide every customer a solution and opportunity to be fashionable every day. Personalisation is what has set us miles ahead of competition.”
Founded by Aditya Chalasani and Varun Mathew, Dekkoh is a fashion-discovery platform that allows users to chat one-on-one with their own personal stylist and buy clothing and accessories that suit them.
“The Dekkoh platform is doing the same through an engaged community of stylists and a highly data-driven profiling and chatbots. We will use their expertise in further strengthening our personalisation engine,” added Ali.
Dekkoh currently connects a community of 200 stylists to consumers seeking fashion advice.
Voonik has currently gone on a fundraising and acquisition spree lately. It has till date raised a total of $27 million. After raising $3 million (Rs 20 crore) in venture debt financing from InnoVen Capital, it has now raised $20 million in a Series B round of funding led by venture capital firm Sequoia Capital, early this June.
According to Voonik, it has over 12 million registered users with 10 million app downloads. On the supply side, it has over 15 lakhs products from 20,000 sellers. The company works on a ‘lean’ marketplace business model where it operates without inventory and fulfillment centers.
It has also appointed former Amazon India executive Raghu Lakkapragada as its chief operating officer two weeks ago. Voonik competes with companies such as Myntra, which recently acquired Jabong, Limeroad and StalkBuyLove, among others.
