Insta360’s Antigravity A1 Drone: A Game-Changing 360° FPV Experience for Creators
Insta360, best known for its 360-degree action cameras, is venturing into the skies with its first-ever drone: the Antigravity A1. Developed by Insta360’s spin-off team Antigravity, this lightweight FPV (First-Person View) drone aims to make immersive aerial shooting accessible to both creators and casual pilots — without years of flight experience.
Set to launch as a three-part bundle — the drone itself, OLED Vision goggles, and a Grip motion controller — the Antigravity A1 weighs around 249 grams, keeping it under licensing thresholds in most regions.
360° Vision Without the Drone in View
Unlike conventional drones, the Antigravity A1’s dual ultrawide cameras are mounted on the top and bottom, enabling 8K 360-degree capture. Advanced stitching algorithms, refined over five generations of Insta360 cameras, ensure seamless footage where the drone itself disappears from view.
This unique setup allows pilots to reframe shots after filming — turning one clip into multiple perspectives: a tracking shot, a close-up, or a sweeping landscape view.
Immersive FPV Flying, Simplified
Tested on a Mercedes-Benz racetrack in Germany, the Antigravity A1 delivered an intuitive flying experience. With its 360° video feed streamed to the goggles, pilots can look in any direction without affecting the drone’s flight path.
The Freemotion control system blends traditional drone inputs with motion-sensing, similar to a Wiimote. Point the controller where you want to go, pull the trigger, and the A1 shoots off in that direction. This decouples flight direction from camera view — a freedom not found in most FPV drones.

Editing Freedom for Creators
Footage from the Antigravity A1 can be reframed, cropped, and repositioned endlessly using Insta360’s editing software. Multiple angles can be extracted from the same clip, with object-tracking tools and keyframes to keep subjects perfectly in view. Even early versions of the software make editing accessible and surprisingly fun.
Extra Safety and Future Upgrades
The drone features payload detection to prevent flying with unsafe loads, reducing licensing complications. Insta360 is also teasing future accessories, much like it has done for its cameras.
A co-creation program will give selected testers pre-production units in exchange for feedback, with the chance to win a share of a $20,000 prize pool.
A New Challenger to DJI FPV?
While pricing remains unannounced, the Antigravity A1’s combination of lightweight design, immersive FPV control, and 360-degree capture positions it as a serious rival to DJI’s FPV lineup — especially for creators looking for maximum flexibility in post-production.
If Insta360 delivers on battery life, durability, and software refinement, the Antigravity A1 could be one of the most exciting drones of 2025.
