AIGF Applauds Meta’s Landmark Policy Shift Enabling Responsible Real Money Gaming Ads in India

In a significant development for India’s online gaming industry, Meta has updated its advertising policy to allow regulated Real Money Gaming (RMG) ads on its platforms, drawing praise from the All India Gaming Federation (AIGF). The change permits only certified RMG operators to advertise, under strict guidelines, ensuring a responsible, compliant, and legally aligned digital advertising ecosystem.

According to Meta’s revised policy, Real Money Gaming advertisers must obtain written approval from Meta before launching their campaigns. Additionally, ads must not target users under 18, a move designed to protect minors from exposure to potentially harmful content. The shift aligns Meta’s global platform rules with India’s evolving legal framework and regulatory expectations around online gaming.

Roland Landers, CEO of AIGF, hailed the policy revision as a “major step forward” for India’s digital gaming landscape. “We welcome Meta’s significant shift in its advertising policy towards greater clarity and compliance for Real Money Gaming advertisers,” Landers stated. “The new framework ensures only authorized, responsible operators can access Meta’s ad inventory while protecting users—especially minors—from unregulated content.”

A Boost for India’s Legitimate Gaming Sector

The AIGF, India’s oldest and largest industry body for online skill gaming, has long advocated for self-regulation, legal clarity, and industry-wide integrity. Over the past decade, the federation has spearheaded India’s most comprehensive voluntary skill game certification program, grounded in legal validation.

“We are pleased that Meta now recognises AIGF-issued certificates as valid proof for legal and skill-based classification of games,” Landers added. “This milestone reflects the power of sustained industry-platform dialogue and positions India’s legitimate gaming sector for responsible and structured growth in digital advertising environments.”

About AIGF: Driving Digital India Through Responsible Gaming

Founded with a mission to support fair and secure gaming, the All India Gaming Federation represents over 120 members, including top-tier operators and MSME gaming startups. Collectively, AIGF members reach more than 40 crore Indian users, with an estimated combined valuation of over $10 billion.

With its emphasis on “Make in India, for the World”, AIGF champions the role of gaming in fueling India’s $1 trillion digital economy. It is online skill gaming, user welfare, innovation, and employment, positioning India as a global leader in the gaming sector.

Backed by AIGF’s robust certification standards, is now poised to reshape the future with the policy update for Meta’s Real Money Gaming advertising in India, ushering in a new era of transparent, regulated, and accountable online gaming promotion.
