‘Zootopia 2’ Trailer Unleashes New Villain, Unexpected Conflict, and Fan-Favorite Returns
As Zootopia 2 gears up to become Disney Animation’s 64th feature film, it promises to build on the heart, humor, and sociopolitical subtext that made the 2016 original both a critical and box office hit.
Disney’s animated duo Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde are back—this time, their biggest case might be each other. The long-awaited sequel to Disney’s Academy Award®-winning Zootopia has officially entered the spotlight. Zootopia 2 is slated to hit theaters on November 26, 2025, and Disney has just dropped its thrilling new trailer and poster—giving fans their first glimpse into a wilder, more emotional ride through the animal metropolis.
Returning are the beloved voices of Ginnifer Goodwin as rookie-turned-veteran bunny cop Judy Hopps and Jason Bateman as smooth-talking fox Nick Wilde. But this time, things aren’t all buddy-cop bliss. The trailer reveals that their relationship is hitting serious turbulence, forcing Chief Bogo (voiced once again by Idris Elba) to assign them to the Partners in Crisis counseling program. Cue the awkward therapy sessions, heartfelt introspection, and, of course, high-octane action.
But a rift between the dynamic duo isn’t the only twist. Zootopia 2 introduces Gary De’Snake, a venomous and mysterious new reptilian arrival voiced by Oscar® winner Ke Huy Quan (Everything Everywhere All At Once). Fans are already speculating whether Gary slithers in as the sequel’s main antagonist—or a red herring hiding something bigger.
Adding more flavor to the vibrant cast are Fortune Feimster as Nibbles, a quirky new character, and Quinta Brunson (Abbott Elementary) as Dr. Fuzzby, the quokka therapist who will help Judy and Nick navigate their personal tensions while unraveling a new city-wide conspiracy.
“It’s been an absolute joy to reteam with so many actors who made the first film so special, and so exciting to expand the world with our phenomenal new cast members,” said Jared Bush, the film’s writer, director, and chief creative officer of Walt Disney Animation Studios. Bush co-directs with Byron Howard, both of whom were behind the original Zootopia and Disney’s musical mega-hit Encanto. Yvett Merino returns as producer.

While plot details remain mostly under wraps, the trailer teases an escalating mystery tied to the snake’s arrival, corruption in Zootopia’s highest circles, and emotional growth for both Nick and Judy. The film also hints at deeper themes, including trust, emotional resilience, and what it means to evolve—not just as partners, but as individuals.
